Daring to Dream

Theatre UCF

This show's cast consisted of a mix of Theatre UCF students and cast members with disabilities partnered with CFCArts. The show was a devised piece, meaning we created the storyline and script during the rehearsal process based on a set theme, for us: "Dreams". As an SM on this production, my main priorities were documentation and making sure everyone's ideas are heard, since it was a highly collaborative process. Since we created the show in the process, making sure very idea is heard and documented so we had a paper trail to work off of.

Props

This show had a lot of props, and one of my main responsibilities was tracking these props. This was a challenge because we had multiple scenes that had several of the same prop, like books and scarves, and I had to make sure the correct ones got to the correct actor.

We did a lot of group activities to foster the creative flow in rehearsal, mainly arts and crafts. A main example was this map. We poured rice on a large paper, randomly spread it out, and traced around it. Then, had the cast draw any location they want and these were real settings we used in the show.
